Van wrap for Scutt's Potatoes.

There isn’t much of a better feeling than when a project comes off that you have been working on for a long period of time, and the recent job by the HG Graphics team is a great example of just that.

Scutt Potatoes, a producer of potatoes company situated just off the m62 in Eastrington came to Team HG with a requirement for their commercial vehicles to be branded. Following a lot of hard work and consultation with the Scutt’s team, their needs were met with a stunning print wrap application.

Objective

To bring the vehicle branding aspirations Scutt Potatoes had for their commercial vehicles to life.

Challenge

The main challenge was to find a design that could be effectively replicated on the different vehicles Scutt’s had.

Solution

Following the consultation process, a design was selected which was then embossed onto print film to wrap Scutt Potatoes vehicles.

Initial Meeting

Unlike many of projects that come the way of HG Graphics, this one for Scutts Potatoes didn’t start out as necessarily a hot lead. The Scutt’s team initially just reached out to HG way back in the middle of 2022 requiring some friendly advice on how best to get their vans wrapped, with great intrigue in knowing facts like; how long the wrap lasts, the benefits, the costs, as well as the design capabilities we had.

Fast forward a few months down the line and Rod, Director of Scutt’s was back in touch following a browse around at the different options to brand his vehicles. Rod articulated that he wanted HG to complete the commercial vehicle branding job for him, signifying that although HG were not the cheapest option out there, the keenness and help from the outset, as well as the project management capabilities led to the decision HG Graphics were the right company to partner with.

The Project

Once the project got the green light, the Scutt Potatoes and HG Graphics team met up for a consultation to get the designs nailed for print.

‘’Rod and Kate (Directors) came to visit us on a couple of occasions, with the primary aim of bringing their design dreams to life. Rod and Kate really did know what they wanted and where, so it was really easy to work with them in regard to getting a design brief off them. Kate had also previously spent many years in the design world, so she really helped out in terms of choosing fonts and colours.’’ said Creative Design Manager, Laura Hill.

Laura continued, ‘’We really did go above and beyond for this customer. We printed a few colour samples and matched these to scutt’s potato bags, as well as staging and photographing the potato sacks to go onto the vehicle livery which they were more than happy with.’’

The Installation

Following the process of going through the designs and once Scutt Potatoes were happy with the overall look, it was time for the application.

‘’Once all the print and colour samples were signed off by the Scutt Potatoes team, we got to work on the installation itself. For the installation we had a number of different sized vehicles that we were working with on this job which included 3 vans, 2 merc sprinters and 1 Iveco long wheelbase,’’ said Laura.

Laura continued, ‘’Although our team are experienced in vehicle applications, the installation process for this job didn’t come without its own challenges. The Iveco was an irish build van, so our vehicle outlines were slightly out, this meant I had to measure the vehicle up and lay up the graphics when the vehicle arrived to us. This vehicle was a whopper of van!’’

Project Review

It’s safe to say that directors Rod and Kate were delighted with the results of the project completed by the HG team. The vision they had for how they wanted their vehicles to be looking was delivered, and it’s clear from the images of this job that the vans branding is looking very much on point.

This job really does underpin the project management capabilities of the HG Graphics team, providing a service that goes way beyond just application. As shown here, the team have been able to take deliver a holistic service, right from the initial enquiry where advice and help was offered, to the utilising of expertise when it came to the designing of the print, right through to the application.
