With the year of 2022 now passed and with 2023 being very much here, it makes sense that we take a little bit of a look back at the last 12 months, and it’s safe to say that we can look back on the year of 2022 with so much pleasure!
The year of 2022 was absolutely jam packed, in the best way possible ofcourse. In this blog, we are going to look back at some of the key highlights of the last year.
Let’s see what the team have been up to.
Projects
Where do we start with projects? There have been so many!
When looking back at all the projects we get involved in, the thing that stands out the most is the variation of what we do and the people we work with is huge. The saying ‘no two days are ever the same’ has never been so prevalent for us at Team HG.
Repeat business with local businesses is something that has remained a consistent in our business, maintaining great working relationships with businesses like this remains in our DNA and is something we want to keep moving forward.
To focus more on the specifics of projects we have been getting involved in, Vehicle Branding has remained an ever present, as it has done for a decade now at HG, and long may it continue. 2022 has seen us get involved in some great events like the Great North Run in September, which is really rewarding as it feels really good to play a small part in such iconic events in the UK calendar.
Perhaps our greatest growth area in terms of projects in 2022 must be building wraps. This year we’ve got involved in more and more of these large-scale projects as the year has gone on which has transformed our business, working with big brands like KIA and many more. This trend is set to continue in 2023 too.
New Websites
Let’s Get Digital!
In a world where digital is playing a bigger and bigger part of how consumers operate, gather their research and ultimately make their purchasing decisions, we as a team have recognised this need to up our digital game.
As a result, we have spent a large chunk of 2022 reenergising our websites for both HG Graphics and HG Surface (starting from scratch in this case).
We completed our HG Graphics website overhaul in April 2022, where our main goal was to give the website more of a modern feel, with a clear need for the user experience and overall aesthetics of the site needing to be improved. As a result, we are more than happy with how the website is both looking and performing now. Feel free to have a look around, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
In July 2022, we completed our brand-new HG Surface website. It was imperative we created a separate website for Surface as ultimately this brand has different stakeholders to the Graphics side of our business, so it was imperative that we had a website that was inspirational and informative to our target audience.
Again, we were delighted with the results. You can visit the HG Surface website for yourself here: www.hgsurface.com.
Uk Graphics Awards
A poignant moment in the history of Team HG.
On the 5th of October, the HG team headed to the Manchester Hilton Deansgate Hotel for the UK Graphic Awards, and what a night we had!
The eagerly anticipated night was a historic one for us at HG as we had not one but two nominations for an award for the very first time, which included our very own Blaine being nominated for the rising star award, and our BT Immersive Classroom project being a nominee in the Leisure & Hospitality category.
Although we didn’t win either of the awards we were nominated for, we believe it was a huge achievement to be shortlisted. For a company of only 7 individuals under 32 years of age we feel we are doing great as a young business and genuinely had a great evening.
Introducing TeamHG!
The end of 2022 also has seen the birth of TeamHG!
We didn’t take long to put the wheels in motion either. Despite the speed of the decision to the action, this really wasn’t a knee jerk decision. Here at HG, once we make our minds up on something we tend to put the wheels in motion very quickly. And this was no different.
Creating the name Team HG is something we had been contemplating for some time in all honestly, probably since the inception of the HG Surface brand. Despite there been a clear need for HG Surface, given that the brand speaks to different types of people to HG Graphics, a lot of the time there is cross over given these brands really can go hand in hand, and this was causing confusion between ourselves and more importantly our customers.
Rather than two separate businesses, we ultimately see HG Surface and HG Graphics as two separate brands that sit alongside each other. As a result of this, and once our minds were clear of this fact, we came to the conclusion an umbrella company name was required…. Team HG!
The team is growing
We keep growing and growing, and with that in mind we’ve added to the family (well sort of).
In late 2022, we took on a new apprentice, Harvey, who is the nephew of Team HG’s very own Natalie and Stephen. Harvey is still currently at school and is working here part time, after school hours. Although he’s not 100% sure what he wants to do after school, he has a big interest in graphic design, so it was a real no brainer to get him in for some work experience.
We’re currently showing him the ropes, both on the computer, setting up prints to bench work, as well as weeding, applying print to panels, and using the plotter. Harvey really is a super quick learner and is a proper friendly chap and although he’s only been here a short time, he’s fully capable of just cracking on with a task you set him on with. A genuine pleasure to work with and a credit to himself.
Keep up the great work Harvey.
This brings us to out conclusion of our 2022 review. This review really does scratch the surface of what we have been up to, and we can say with a lot of confidence that this has been unquestionably the best year yet.
Here’s to an even better 2023.
